Sleepy Forest Resorts Now, We have three properties in Big Bear. Our Sleepy Forest property is near the lake. The Cathy’s Cottages property is just under 4 miles away - closer to the convention center and the airport in Big Bear City - and the Tao Cabins property is another 2 miles further - also in Big Bear City.

​The Pool Family bought a six cabin lodge in December of 1979, Bob and Kathy moved into the old version of cabin 208 on January 22, 1980. Kathy soon found she was pregnant with our first child, Matt, and he was born in a lake view room at the local hospital in August. The original cabins were in very poor shape, and it took a week of round-the-clock work just to open the best of them. While walking through the most needy of the cabins, Bob's mother suggested a "Honeymoon Cottage" designed to help her friends relationships. Josh was born in 1983 and the first "Honeymoon Cottage" in all of Big Bear, Unit 207, opened in 1985 at Sleepy Forest. Today, after 33 years growing to be the largest lodging company in the valley and then downsizing to our present intimate size.​

​Sleepy Forest Cottages is located centrally to most popular Big Bear Lake activities. Within 1 mile of The Village down-town area and Snow Summit Ski Resort, and a 5 minute walk up the street from the Lake - a great sunset spot, Swim Beach and Meadow Park, right by Eagle Point. Cathy's Cottages, our smaller lodge featuring the most romantic honeymoon cottages, is walking distance from the Airport and located close to Horseback Riding and other east-side Big Bear City spots.
